Ireland June 2012

Just returned from a fabulous trip to Ireland, the land where all seems unreal.  It felt as though we were walking through a fairytale.  The landscape was stunning, the castles and ruins awe inspiring, the people warm and friendly and soooo much fun to listen to.  The food was scrumptious and the Guiness fine!  Some work will surely come out of this.  In fact, I just finished a tiny 14" X 3" landscape based on a photo of the Irish landscape. I've attached it here along with some shots from our trip.  Look for more in the months, perhaps weeks, to come.

I had the great honor, last Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012 to be one of four recipients of the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship.  The goal of the Louise Tillotson Teaching Fellowship program is to raise awareness of the value of excellence in education.  Fellowship recipients are chosen based on their commitment to public education, breadth of experience, innovation in education, creativity in solving problems, communication skills and inspiration.  Receiving this award is certainly a high point in my career.  I'm grateful there are opportunities such as these that recognize teachers and the hard and challenging work that they do.  I continue to love teaching and always am inspired by the students I teach.

The Rochester Museum of Fine Art

The Rochester Museum of Fine Art in Rochester is now the proud owner of these two paintings inspired by my trip to Costa Rica.  They will be part of their permanent collection.  Very excited!  When you're in the area stop in to support the museum's efforts and check out my work.www.rochestermfa.org

"Secret Places" at Fiddleheads

Last night's opening of "Secret Places" was it's usual relaxing evening of art, music and friends. Got to play with Harold Boydston and his antique Gibson. What a treat! Wish I could have done it better justice. Some wonderful artwork as always interpreting the theme. If you're in town be sure to check it out.
